The three main sources
for college scholarships are local
scholarships, national and worldwide scholarship
search databases, and each college's
scholarship website that is specifically
geared for students attending their college.
LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS Each year Tuscola community organizations and other fairly local groups send our school scholarship applications for our students to apply for. These scholarships are listed below in chronological order that they are due.
Golden Apple Scholars Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors who are pursuing a career in education in Illinois. DEADLINE: December 1, 2024 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE The Equity Agronomy Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors and college students that are majoring in marketing, business, accounting, agriculture, precision ag, automotive, diesel technician or technology. The Equity Agronomy Department will require a two-year work agreement tied to this scholarship. DEADLINE: December 15, 2024 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE Elks Legacy Award Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors planning to continue their education that are children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elk members. DEADLINE: February 3, 2025 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE Joe and Sue Summerville Agricultural Scholarship CRITERIA: Douglas country high school seniors that plan to major in agriculture. An essay is required. DEADLINE: February 14, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD The Chorale Young Artist Scholarship CRITERIA: Central Illinois high school students that plan to enroll in college in music studies. DEADLINE: February 14, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Be Brave Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola high school seniors must submit a 2-page essay on how substance use/abuse has influenced or affected their life. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: SUBMIT ESSAY to BeBraveforPetey@yahoo.com Broc Winn Memorial Fund Scholarship CRITERIA: For Tuscola high school senior football players. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Cundiff Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that plans to further their education. Numerous scholarships will be awarded. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Dr. Dana Mattix Memorial Scholarship CRITERIA: High School senior that is continuing their post-secondary in a healthcare field. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Douglas McCumber Family Fund Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that plans to attend college, that has high character, that is ranked in the top 1/3 of their class, and that has demonstrated leadership. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Dylan M. Taylor Memorial Scholarships CRITERIA: Two scholarships will be give out in memory of Dylan M. Taylor. One will be awarded to a Tuscola High School senior that plans to attend college for nursing and the other to a student going to college for the trades. Applications must emailed to: hnbrown1976@gmail.com or mailed to the address on the application. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Farm Credit Illinois Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors that are planning on majoring in agriculture. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE GFWC Tuscola Women's Club Fine Arts Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that plans to attend college and pursue a degree in fine arts. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD GFWC Tuscola Women's Club Juniorettes and Gentlemen Club Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is a member of the Juniorettes and Gentlemen Club and plans to attend college. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD ICTFL Scholarship for Future World Language Educators CRITERIA: High school seniors that are planning to become a world language teacher. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE Keli Christine Adkisson Memorial Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is continuing their post-secondary in building trades. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Kiwanis Club of Tuscola Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is continuing their post-secondary education in the fall. Good character and financial need are also considered. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Omni Energy Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior who is planning to attend a technical or trade school, and must demonstrate financial need. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Tommy K. Martin Memorial Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that plans to major in law enforcement/criminal justice in college. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Trust Bank Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Tuscola All-Pro HVAC & Plumbing Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that plans to further their education in the trades, engineering, architecture, project management, construction, or other trade-specific school. All completed applications will be considered. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Tuscola Education Association Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School seniors or Tuscola High School Teacher Association member's children that are seniors at another high school. Priority will be given to students who plan to major in education. Essay required. Applications must be emailed to tuscola.ed.assoc16@gmail.com DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Tuscola FFA Alumni Association Senior Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School seniors that are active FFA members and that have taken at least 1.5 years of agriculture classes. Awards are based on sincerity, commitment to the Tuscola High School FFA program and desire to further education. Essays and a letter of recommendation required. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Tuscola High School Local Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior. This is the main scholarship application that makes our seniors eligible for approximately 20 different local scholarships available each year. The scholarships all have different criteria. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Tuscola Rotary Club Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is continuing their post-secondary school, a U.S. citizen, a Tuscola student for their last 4 semesters, and have no serious disciplinary issues. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: February 28, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors with a financial need and scholastic ability. DEADLINE: March 3, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Cabot Corporation Tuscola, IL STEM Scholarship CRITERIA: A high school senior that is pursuing a pathway in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math). DEADLINE: March 7, 2025 APPLICATION: LINK TO THE APPLICATION Illinois Elks Future Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant Scholarship CRITERIA: Students planning to pursue a career as a physical therapy assistant or occupational therapy assistant. Tuscola High School seniors meet this criteria. DEADLINE: March 14, 2025 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE Sarah Bush Lincoln Scholarship CRITERIA: For students pursuing a career in a health related field. DEADLINE: March 15, 2025 APPLICATION: LINK TO THE APPLICATION Illinois Elks Future Special Education Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors planning to pursue a career in special education while continuing their education at Illinois colleges/universities. DEADLINE: March 28, 2025 APPLICATION: LINK TO THE APPLICATION Parkland College Foundation Scholarships CRITERIA: Students that will be attending Parkland College this fall. DEADLINE: March 30, 2025 APPLICATION: LINK TO THE APPLICATION Douglas County Pheasants Forever Scholarship CRITERIA: High school senior or continuing college student that is a child, niece, nephew, or grandchild of a Douglas County Pheasants Forever member or members themselves. DEADLINE: March 31, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Illinois Society of Engineers Champaign Chapter Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors from Champaign, Douglas, Vermillion, Edgar, Coles, and Southern Ford counties. Must be a United States citizen with a minimum gpa of 3.0. Must be enrolled in an engineering program at a college or university. DEADLINE: March 31, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD General Federation of Women's Clubs Illinois Art, Drama, Education, and Music Scholarships CRITERIA: High school seniors pursuing a degree in art, drama, health & wellness, or music. DEADLINE: April 1, 2025 APPLICATION: LINK TO THE APPLICATIONS General Federation of Women's Clubs Illinois Vocational Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors pursuing a degree in a vocational area (cosmetology, culinary arts, building trades, automotive, medal and dental assisting, computer repair, computer repair and technology, firefighting, HVAC, office management, welding, radiation therapist, etc.). DEADLINE: April 1, 2025 APPLICATION: LINK TO THE APPLICATION Izquierdo Family STEM Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is going into a STEM related field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math). Applications must emailed to: nateizq@outlook.com DEADLINE: April 4, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD TCHS Alumni Association Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola high school senior who plans to further their education through a community college, trade school, or professional training program and whose sibling parent, or grandparent is a graduate of Tuscola high school. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: April 4, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Toby J. Jump Memorial Scholarship CRITERIA: Area athletes that competed in at least 2 seasons of JFL in Little Illini JFL and 2 seasons of high school football. Submit online to southforklwjfl@gmail.com DEADLINE: April 4, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Douglas County Republican Party Central Committee Scholarship CRITERIA: Two Douglas Country high school seniors will win. Lindley Scholarship CRITERIA: High school senior from either Douglas, Coles, Clark, Cumberland, Edgar Counties in Illinois or Vermillion County in Indiana that are going to attend college. Financial need and academics are considered. DEADLINE: April 15, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Tuscola Pow Wows Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola Pow Wows will be presenting two scholarships to graduating seniors. Applicants must have participated in a full season of at least one high school sport and/or was a member of the cheer or dance team for each year at TCHS, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and plan to attend an institution of high education next year. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: April 16, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Cletcher-Wessale Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior or continuing college student who is pursuing a degree in medicine or health care. DEADLINE: April 18, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Georgine McDonald Trust Scholarship CRITERIA: Douglas County high school senior or continuing college student that is pursuing a degree in fine arts, liberal arts, medicine, law, or agriculture. DEADLINE: April 18, 2025 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD Washington Savings Bank Wealth Management Scholarships CRITERIA: Various scholarships for area students.Applications are available online March 1. DEADLINE: April 25, 2025 APPLICATION: LINK TO APPLICATION Parkland College Board of Trustees Scholarship CRITERIA: Parkland College area high school seniors that are in the top 10% of their graduating class. DEADLINE: Parkland will reach out to our top in the spring of their senior year. APPLICATION: Parkland will reach out to Tuscola high school's top 10%. There is no application. INFORMATION ONLINE I am listing our last year's local scholarships below so that our students and parents can plan ahead. Please note that the scholarships listed below are last year's applications. We do not have this year's applications yet for anything listed below. However, I wanted to post them since most of these scholarships will be available and tend to have similar application questions and criteria each year. |
