The three main sources
for college scholarships are local
scholarships, national and worldwide scholarship
search databases, and each college's
scholarship website that is specifically
geared for students attending their college.
LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS Each year Tuscola community organizations and other fairly local groups send our school scholarship applications for our students to apply for. These scholarships are listed below in chronological order that they are due.
I am listing our last year's local scholarships below so that our students and parents can plan ahead. Please note that the scholarships listed below are last year's applications. We do not have this year's applications yet for anything listed below. However, I wanted to post them since most of these scholarships will be available and tend to have similar application questions and criteria each year. The Equity Agronomy Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors and college students that are majoring in marketing, business, accounting, agriculture, precision ag, automotive, diesel technician or technology. The Equity Agronomy Department will require a two-year work agreement tied to this scholarship. DEADLINE: November 30, 2023 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE (Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet) Golden Apple Scholars Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors who are pursuing a career in education in Illinois. DEADLINE: December 1, 2023 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD (Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Mediacom Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors who live in a state where Mediacom provides services. Tuscola High School seniors meet this criteria. DEADLINE: January 31, 2024 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). The Chorale Young Artist Scholarship CRITERIA: Central Illinois high school students that plan to enroll in college in music studies. DEADLINE: February 15, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD (Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Joe and Sue Summerville Agricultural Scholarship CRITERIA: Douglas country high school seniors that plan to major in agriculture. An essay is required. DEADLINE: February 16, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). ICTFL Scholarship for Future World Language Educators CRITERIA: High school seniors that are planning to become a world language teacher. Lionel Smith Scholarship for Future African American World Language Educators CRITERIA: African American high school seniors that are planning to become a world language teacher. CBAI Foundation for Community Banking Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors. DEADLINE: March 1, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD (Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Illinois Elks Children's Care Program Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors planning to continue their education at Illinois colleges/universities. Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors with a financial need and scholastic ability. Nucor Foundation Community Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors who are majoring in engineering or metallurgy. Township Officials of Illinois Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors planning to continue their education. DEADLINE: March 1, 2024 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Cabot Corporation Tuscola, IL STEM Scholarship CRITERIA: A high school senior that is pursuing a pathway in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math). DEADLINE: March 15, 2024 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Cabot Corporation Tuscola, IL Trades Scholarship CRITERIA: A high school senior that is pursuing a pathway in the trades field. DEADLINE: March 15, 2024 APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Dr. Dana Mattix Memorial Scholarship CRITERIA: High School senior that is continuing their post-secondary in a healthcare field. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: March 27, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Douglas McCumber Family Fund Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that plans to attend college, that has high character, that is ranked in the top 1/3 of their class, and that has demonstrated leadership. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: March 27, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Harriett Jane Bell Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is continuing their post-secondary in an Agriculture related field. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: March 27, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Kiwanis Club of Tuscola Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is continuing their post-secondary education in the fall. Good character and financial need are also considered. DEADLINE: March 27, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Tommy K. Martin Memorial Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that plans to major in law enforcement/criminal justice in college. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: March 27, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Tuscola Education Association Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School seniors or Tuscola High School Teacher Association member's children that are seniors at another high school. Priority will be given to students who plan to major in education. Essay required. Applications must be emailed to tuscola.ed.assoc16@gmail.com DEADLINE: March 27, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Tuscola Joint Local Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior. This is the main scholarship application that makes our seniors eligible for 10-15 different local scholarships available each year. The scholarships all have different criteria. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: March 27, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Illinois Society of Engineers Champaign Chapter Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors from Champaign, Douglas, Vermillion, Edgar, Coles, and Southern Ford counties. Must be a United States citizen with a minimum gpa of 3.0. Must be enrolled in an engineering program at a college or university. DEADLINE: March 29, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Tuscola GSA Booster Club Scholarship CRITERIA: Any Tuscola High School senior that is a member of the Tuscola High School GSA club. DEADLINE: March 29, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Jim Guthridge Memorial Scholarship CRITERIA: High school senior pursuing college. DEADLINE: March 31, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Springfield of Illinois Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Scholarship CRITERIA: High school Catholic senior females. Essay and letters of recommendation are required. DEADLINE: March 31, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). General Federation of Women's Clubs Illinois Art Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors pursuing a degree in art. DEADLINE: April 1, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). General Federation of Women's Clubs Illinois Drama Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors pursuing a degree in drama. DEADLINE: April 1, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). General Federation of Women's Clubs Illinois Education Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors pursuing a degree in the education. General Federation of Women's Clubs Illinois Music Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors pursuing a degree in music. General Federation of Women's Clubs Illinois Vocational Scholarship CRITERIA: High school seniors pursuing a degree in a vocational area (cosmetology, culinary arts, building trades,, automotive, medal and dental assisting, computer repair, computer repair and technology, firefighting, HVAC, office management, welding, radiation therapist, etc.). DEADLINE: April 1, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Izquierdo Family STEM Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is going into a STEM related field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math). DEADLINE: April 5, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). TCHS Alumni Association Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola high school senior who plans to further their education through a community college, trade school, or professional training program and whose sibling parent, or grandparent is a graduate of Tuscola high school. DEADLINE: April 5, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Broc Winn Memorial Fund Scholarship CRITERIA: For Tuscola high school senior football players. DEADLINE: April 8, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). American Auxiliary Past President's Parley Nursing Scholarship CRITERIA: For students that are pursuing a career in nursing. DEADLINE: April 10, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Cletcher-Wessale Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior or continuing college student who is pursuing a degree in medicine or health care. DEADLINE: April 12, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Georgine McDonald Trust Scholarship CRITERIA: Douglas County high school senior or continuing college student that is pursuing a degree in fine arts, liberal arts, medicine, law, or agriculture. DEADLINE: April 12, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Tuscola FFA Alumni Association Senior Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School seniors that are active FFA members and that have taken at least 1.5 years of agriculture classes. Awards are based on sincerity, commitment to the Tuscola High School FFA program and desire to further education. Essays and a letter of recommendation required. DEADLINE: April 12, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Heritage Family Farms Agriculture Scholarship CRITERIA: Area high school seniors that are continuing their post-secondary education in agriculture. DEADLINE: April 15, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Sarah Bush Lincoln Scholarship CRITERIA: For students pursuing a career in a health related field. DEADLINE: April 15, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Cundiff Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that plans to further their education. Numerous scholarships will be awarded. DEADLINE: April 19, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Tuscola VFW Auxiliary Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior. DEADLINE: April 19, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Washington Savings Bank Wealth Management Scholarships CRITERIA: Various scholarships for area students.Applications are available online March 1. DEADLINE: April 19, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Trust Bank Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior. Applications must be turned in to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: April 21, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). GFWC Tuscola Women's Club Fine Arts Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that plans to attend college and pursue a degree in fine arts. DEADLINE: April 26, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). GFWC Tuscola Women's Club Juniorettes and Gentlemen Club Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is a member of the Juniorettes and Gentlemen Club and plans to attend college. DEADLINE: April 26, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Tuscola Rotary Club Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is continuing their post-secondary school, a U.S. citizen, a Tuscola student for their last 4 semesters, and have no serious disciplinary issues. DEADLINE: April 26, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Donald J. Lindley and Belle H. Lindley Scholarship CRITERIA: High school senior from either Douglas, Coles, Clark, Cumberland, Edgar Counties in Illinois or Vermillion County in Indiana. Financial need and academics are considered. Students must submit their application to the following email address: Lindleyscholarship@regions.com DEADLINE: April 30, 2024 (Deadline extended to April 30, 2024 due to the delays in FAFSA) APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. Douglas County Pheasants Forever Tom Innes Memorial Scholarship CRITERIA: High school senior or continuing college student that is a child, niece, nephew, or grandchild of a Douglas County Pheasants Forever member or members themselves. Douglas County Republican Party Central Committee Scholarship CRITERIA: Two Douglas Country high school seniors will win. This has a required essay. Be Brave Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola high school seniors must submit a 2-page essay on how substance use/abuse has influenced or affected their life. Keli Christine Adkisson Memorial Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that is continuing their post-secondary in building trades. DEADLINE: May 1, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Omni Energy Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior who is planning to attend a technical or trade school, and must demonstrate financial need. Turn in completed applications to Mr. Garrison. DEADLINE: May 1, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Tuscola All-Pro HVAC & Plumbing Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola High School senior that plans to further their education in the trades, engineering, architecture, project management, construction, or other trade-specific school. All completed applications will be considered. DEADLINE: May 1, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). ADI Ag Drainage Scholarship CRITERIA: Seniors from one of 7 counties, including Douglas county that have demonstrated an interest in agriculture. DEADLINE: May 3, 2024 APPLICATION: ONLINE(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). C & L Tiling Scholarship CRITERIA: Seniors from one of 8 counties, including Douglas county that have demonstrated an interest in agriculture. Applicants must be pursuing a college education. DEADLINE: May 3, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Tuscola Pow Wows Scholarship CRITERIA: Tuscola Pow Wows will be presenting two scholarships to graduating seniors. Applicants must have participated in a full season of at least one high school sport and/or was a member of the cheer or dance team for each year at TCHS, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and plan to attend an institution of high education next year. DEADLINE: May 3, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Arcola Foundation Gwen Marie Boyd Memorial Fund Scholarship CRITERIA: Area high school seniors that are continuing their post-secondary and are in financial need. DEADLINE: June 1, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Community Service Block Grant Scholarship CRITERIA: Seniors pursuing a college education that meet a financial need requirement. DEADLINE: June 14, 2024 APPLICATION: DOWNLOAD(Please note this is last year's application. We do not have this year's yet). Parkland College Board of Trustees Scholarship CRITERIA: Parkland College area high school seniors that are in the top 10% of their graduating class. DEADLINE: Parkland will reach out to our top in the spring of their senior year. APPLICATION: Parkland will reach out to Tuscola high school's top 10%. There is no application. Please be aware that many sites will try to charge you money for a scholarship search. These sites are most often scams. You should never have to pay for a scholarship search.
